Chilean universities are facing a double challenge nowadays. On one hand, giving access to students that historically have been excluded from them and, on the other hand, to enroll better candidates. In this paper, we propose a transition model based on equity, that may give an answer to this challenge, viewed from a perspective that addresses this transition process in three key stages: before admission to the university, articulating joint work between secondary education schools and universities; during admission, diversifying admission mechanisms and, finally, supporting and promoting students to encourage their academic success, perseverance and integration.
